Practice Groups' Days

· Online Meeting

A big Thank you to all attendees for making our Practice Groups Days a great working week and keeping the Eurojuris networking spirit alive!

Almost all of our Practice Groups held their meetings during this first week of May. Attendance was very good, and some of our members managed to take part in more than just one session - one of the few advantages of online events.

Our two new kids on the block, Private Wealth and Renewable Energy, Environment & Regulated Markets made an impressive debut at their first PGD event. Private Wealth started with 17 participants and a presentation on Cross-border Wills by Matthew Cameron and Dennis Phillips into their first session, and Renewable Energy boasted a high-profile speaker featuring Giles Dickson from WindEurope.

Corporate and Insolvency, Restructuring & Banking decided to join forces and do a cross-practice session on Gun-Jumping in Poland (pre-merger co-ordination between parties in M&A transactions). ITTI (International Trade, Transport & Insurance) discussed Incoterms and managed to include current hot topics such as insurance coverage for interrupted business regarding the current case of the "Ever Green". IBG members were treated to an extremely entertaining and informative session by hostage negotiator Richard Mullender, a true expert in negotiation and listening skills.

So even if our Practice Groups couldn't meet for the second time in a row, we definitely made the most of it!

Here are some comments of participants:

"The PG meetings provide an excellent opportunity to gain and share knowledge on legal issues common to litigation lawyers across Europe as well as to build relationships with contemporaries.  They are well structured and encourage all attendees, both new and more established, to participate in a professional, supportive and friendly environment."

"I enjoyed participating in the “Employment Session” on “International home working: Implications for businesses to consider”. It was a very topical issue considering the current Coronavirus pandemic. Richard and Lee gave a clear presentation and Judith had a nice contribution as well. The speakers raised interesting questions which the participants could discuss with each other. There was plenty of opportunity to participate in the discussion."

"I am delighted to have been able to join in on three practice group discussions this week. I am new to Eurojuris, having recently joined SJP Law, and it was lovely to meet the other attendees albeit only by video conferencing. The presentations were informative and well-presented; and I am looking forward to picking up with you again when we meet, hopefully in person - at Congress in Paris this October. Thank you for your welcome and good wishes."

"I’ve participated in the inaugural session of the brand new Renewable Energy, Environment & regulated markets practice group ran by Pia V. Kohrs and Karl H. Lincke and I can say I’m very happy to have joined this group. We were presented with very insightful presentations from our Dutch and Belgium colleagues on their respective countries overview and we even had the luxury of learning from Giles Dickson on how WindEurope is tackling the challenges ahead for the wind energy industry. I can only thank their effort in creating this PG and congratulate Eurojuris for the go ahead."

When asked what they liked most about the event, our attendees also said:

"Well organised, good content and time keeping."

"Professional, well-run, informative and friendly as usual."

"A useful touch point with Eurojuris colleagues."

"To get in touch with international colleagues again - sadly missed over a long time. Good to hear their perspectives on the challenges of this time."

"We remain attentive and keep collaborating within Eurojuris to ensure maximum synergies of thought and experience. PGs remain useful, pleasant and insightful."
