Eurojuris Brussels Congress 2017

Eurojuris Brussels Congress 2017

This year’s congress celebrated the network’s 25th anniversary! From 12th to 14th of October Eurojuris members brought the Eurojuris spirit to Brussels, ‘where it all began’, a quarter-century ago.

The congress gathered this year more than 200 lawyers from 30 different countries. Absolutely, a big success of attendance!

After a reception at the Brussels’ “Hôtel de Ville” on the Grand Place on Thursday, the early birds had a dinner at the Maison du Cygne.

We are delighted to report, that the Eurojuris statutes’ modifications, in order to get the Asiajuris project started, were approved during the General Assembly. The kick off for Asiajuris will be the 2018 Congress in Dubai.

On Friday, the Plenary session was devoted to the future of the legal profession and the collaboration between generations. Paul Redmond explained with a lot of humour the differences between the baby boomers and generations X, Y, and Z as well as how to make them work together. Nell Watson offered us a thought-provoking presentation on the artificial intelligence and its impacts on our society as well as on the future of the legal profession.

A reception was offered by Eurojuris Belgium at the Warande, a well-known business center next to the US embassy. The event was followed by a beautiful evening at the Quincaillerie.

The Saturday was dedicated to the Practice Groups sessions: we welcome Christian Schlemmer as co-chair of the International Litigation & ADR group, Mark Daubney as the new chair of the ITTI. The employment group is back on track thanks to Sigrun Sagedhal. The national stands contest was as usual great fun and was won this year by LawNet thanks to a great offer of crazy recipes for Gin cocktails. The award of the best website went to Backström, the golf tournament was won by legendary Thierry Clerc and the most represented firm in the last two years was Busekist Winter and Partner in Düsseldorf.

In conclusion, Brussels was the most attended Congress within the last years. It was a splendid mix of networking, fun, and exchanges during three exciting days. We are looking forward to meeting you all in Stockholm in May 2018!!!
